Summary
The Wastelanders are generally described as a coalition of exiles and homeless individuals whose home planet was destroyed by the Zirax Empire, with their primary agenda at the time of founding being to seek revenge against the Zirax Empire.
In the meantime, the Wastelanders have become a collective of general "displaced persons," increasingly including fortune seekers, mercenaries, and traders of specific goods.
The less combative members of this community have primarily specialized in salvaging remnants from large and small wars to secure their common sphere of power and fend off external attacks. Although the enterprising Wastelanders usually use cunning to acquire ships and materials, many do not shy away from using force to obtain what they need.
This increasingly gives the Wastelanders a dubious reputation, often equating them with pirates or even warlords.
Current Situation
At the time of the game, the Wastelanders have earned the dubious reputation of being the "better pirates." This brings them into conflict with the "real" pirate clans, as shady deals often go to the Wastelanders, who are considered slightly more trustworthy.
Overall, the major Wastelander cities are a hub for interests outside the fully legal paths—whether for business or tourism.
Internal Affairs
Reports suggest that an internal power struggle in the council over the approach to expansion in the distant Eastside is escalating. An offer from the pirate clan of the Salurians to distribute "new goods" in the Northside of the galaxy, home to the Wastelanders, is being vehemently debated and so far rejected by equally large factions in the council.
A smaller group of council members wants to accept the offer on their own and appear to be already in contact with these 'Eastside Pirates,' while more cautious voices from older council members strongly warn against trusting the Salurians.
