Summary

The Prenn are the oldest known humanoid species in Andromeda. Long before the Talon arrived, the Prenn dominated the galaxy and are still the most commonly encountered humanoids across planetary populations.

Thousands of years ago, the Prenn began their galactic conquest, primarily as traders. Organized in families and later in smaller and larger trade guilds, the Prenn expanded their influence at their peak by supplying “backward” planets with goods they eventually could not live without. Even after the Talon, with the help of the Zirax, broke their dominance, the Prenn trade empire continued to be a significant power factor in the Eastside of the galaxy as the Prenn Federation.

Current Situation

The Prenn organize their society into guilds, which can consist of up to a hundred family associations. On their home planet, a representative 'Guild Council of Families' is elected periodically, responsible for the general administrative management and legal determination of the Prenn space, as well as foreign communication, such as through diplomatic missions.

Trade guilds have great freedom in their internal dealings and in trade contacts with other factions but must be accountable to the Guild Council for every action. Penalties for misconduct are severe, ranging from the suspension of all current trade contracts (which means certain ruin) to expulsion from Federation space.

Internal Affairs

In recent centuries, an exclusive group from some of the ancient trading families, simply known as “The Trades Guild,” has gained more influence in the council. With the council's approval and under the DESC's Deep Space Colonization Program, this exclusive group has pushed their agenda to regain more control over the systems bordering Prenn space, using any means necessary.

Recently, however, their efforts have faced setbacks. Several convoys have been lost, suspected to be the work of Selurian pirates. Additionally, the Trade Guild is dealing with outbreaks of strange diseases and plagues in the systems they patronize, particularly in areas where Selurian pirate raids have increased. There are suspicions that these outbreaks are not of natural origin. It is also puzzling how easily the pirates can capture the heavily armed Prenn transports.

An investigative committee of the council has yet to provide answers about these incidents and overall security measures.
