Summary

The Talon, as a species, are refugees from the Triangulum Galaxy. They fled thousands of years ago from a threat their ancestors created out of technological hubris, whose attempted destruction's consequences seem to reach far beyond the Local Group of galaxies.

After arriving in Andromeda and falling back into barbarism, they encountered the dominant Prenn when they returned to space. After a military conflict nearly ended in defeat, the Talon secured victory through their new allies, the warlike Zirax, who were in the midst of conquering the space around their planet. The subsequent Talon-Zirax Assembly lasted thousands of years until the War of Silence.

The threat from Triangulum, called “The Legacy” or “The Silence” reportedly caught up with the Talon, leading to a long conflict with endless defeats until their luck turned. However, on the day of the Assembly's supposed victory over the Silence, the Zirax betrayed their former benefactors with a long-planned coup, ruthlessly driving them out by equating the Talon with the so-called "Silence" due to the similarities in their technology.

Current Situation

By the game's timeline, the Talon live in reservation systems initially closely monitored by the Zirax, later more infrequently, and currently barely supervised. After the Empress granted amnesty after the past 1000 years, the reservations were handed over to the DESC, as the Zirax focused on other conflicts.

The Talon are organized into tribes, known as the “Talon Guardians.” They live on a few planets apart from their home planet Omicron and are rarely found beyond the Ellyon system. They use technology as needed but place little value on technological comforts. Despite their high technical skills, their lifestyle appears primitive from the outside. However, technology, including “star travel,” is not seen as magic, and occasionally, one of their traders can be encountered in deep space. They have very good contacts with GLaD and the Arkenian Polaris Megacorp, where their extraordinary resilience and adaptability are highly valued.

Internal Affairs

In recent years, the Talon have increasingly received technology from an unknown source. Rumors suggest that “the ancestors” have returned and an old threat is resurfacing. This information is dismissed as a fairy tale and holds little significance outside the Talon (anymore), but it is followed with great interest and concern by the Arkenian intelligence services and the House of Abyssal for unknown reasons.
