Summary
After the Operation Phoenix fleet escaped, a dispute over the next steps arose within the remaining leadership group. Vice Admiral Perez initially needed to find a safe place, while her daughter, Lt. Cmdr. Alex Lamarr, demanded immediate rescue teams be formed to search for survivors of the UCH TITAN and UCH HEIDELBERG destruction.
These teams should also track down Admiral Yaden and Commander Mercer Senior, believed responsible for the disaster, and search for Lt. Cmdr. Joe Henricks, who narrowly missed boarding the TITAN before departure from the Sol System but might have been pulled through the irregular wormhole according to the last communication data.
Following a heated debate, several former commanders and lieutenants of the TITAN, notably Lamarr, Mercer (Junior), Zerogen, and various crew members, deserted the fleet and left without being pursued.
Current Situation
By the game's timeline, the deserter group has found numerous supporters among various other freedom fighter groups in the galaxy. Under Lt. Cmdr. Lamarr's initiative, GLaD was founded to combat oppression in the galaxy, primarily by the Zirax Empire. Their contacts extend deeply into most galactic territories, especially with the Prenn, Arkenians, and even the Kriel. They maintain contacts with all factions sharing similar goals.
GLaD is a diverse but well-organized group with access to a wide range of technology. While there is no fixed fleet, there are many well-equipped cells. Additionally, there are several secret operational bases in nearly all sectors of the galaxy.
Internal Affairs
While the search for Joe Henricks is a personal mission for Lamarr, the leadership primarily focuses on uncovering the forgotten or hidden backgrounds between the Talon and Zirax and granting the Talon more freedom. There is a certain mistrust towards the “newcomers” in Andromeda from the long-established freedom fighters. The takeover of effective control of the organization is criticized by some.
Aside from that, GLaD is increasingly coming into focus, particularly of the Zirax Empire. Several agents have already disappeared. The pressure is leading to increasingly daring missions with high risks that must soon pay off for GLaD's survival.
